What is Digital History (DH)? We are living in a time in which teaching and learning is increasingly practiced through digital media. Is this simply history, done digitally? Or is there a fundamental shift happening in the way historians study and interpret the past? This course will attempt to unpack this question through a series of hands-on exercises designed to introduce students to the practice, theories, and methods of digital history.

Through readings, discussions, and workshops, students will become familiar with current projects and debates in digital history. A series of tutorials will provide hands-on experience with a range of common digital history tools. The course will culminate in a final project in which students apply DH methodologies to their own research interests.
